War and its resulting casualty load can bring out the best in people, catalysing rapid improvements in medical understanding and care. Radical changes occur in military medical concepts and doctrine, organisation and practice, building upon technological innovations, which spill over into civilian medical care globally. The Crimean War, the South African War, the First and Second World Wars, and the recent Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts have each resulted in revolutionary changes to military medical practice.  This website commemorates the role in this continuum of the Royal Army Medical College at Millbank (now the Chelsea College of Arts), and showcases the achievements, heritage, and ongoing relevance today of military medicine.
