Telemedicine Kept Simple

‘Telemedicine kept simple’ describes the simple, cheap and effective store-and-forward telemedicine system (using a digital camera and email) introduced in 1998 by the British Defence Medical Services. It has been adopted since 1999 by the Swinfen Charitable Trust (now Swinfen Telemedicine) to deliver a free telemedicine service to assist the medical management of poor, sick and disabled people worldwide.

Swinfen Telemedicine is now the longest running telemedicine charity in the world. The coronavirus pandemic has seen telemedicine come of age.
